Kind-of-slightly-maybe-just-a-smigin blurry, but beautiful.

Above is the beautiful broach that I wore to my senior formal. I know you can't really see the beauty in this kind-of-slightly-maybe-just-a-smigin blurry picture, but I feel it's important to include the formal in the film journal, as it was one of the highlights of 09. The preparation was better than I expected, as was the pre, the actual formal, the post and the drive home. In short, it was just a great day/early morning of day after. But back to the significance of the broach. I found it in the first shop I looked in (along with my dress) and after looking carefully through every other vintage shop in Brisbane (that I know of), I came back to it. Love at first sight.

No Hands!

Oh, the skill. While it may not seem it, what these people are doing here actually requires a lot of careful foot placement and balance. Believe it.

p.s. we don't have to wear uniforms again this week like the others do :)

The Sharing Glasses.

These, are the sharing glasses. We (Kieran and I) found them in our house, and decided to share them. They're pretty wonderful John Lennon/ 90's return of the John Lennon glasses, but they only fit with a limited range of moods and clothing choices. Therefore, they are not needed by one person all the time.

Gentleman please, take your best shoes off.

YAY! I have a developed film to journalise. Although the original plan was to go in order from the beginning to the end of the film, we're starting on pictures 3 and 4. The reasoning for this, is because I thought it appropriate to acknowledge my friend Stephen, not forgetting his bro Alex, for their fantastic musicality and support. For helping me turn my ideas into songs, I thank you :)

Anyway, back to the photos. I was lucky enough to be around when Stephen found this scarf that he thought would do well as Macedonian head wear. At least I think it's Macedonian.. well whatever it is I look ridiculous. Nevertheless, it was kinda fun :)

Melbourne Has Enough Good Things Already

I really don't think it was necessary for Melbourne to steal my best friend for so long. I'm not sure if she's comming home tomorrow or the next day, but whenever it is, I look foward to it. As she doesn't like photo's of her face (which you would realise is rediculous if you'd actually seen her face) I made sure to find a picture of the other side of her. Miss you Nikki. x

Sneaky.

This time last year, I was in Japan, being sneaky. That's right, I was being sneaky. I was left home alone, and I realised that I'd never been upstairs. So I snuck upstairs, and guess what I found? I found this beautiful room, and a balcony. A balcony that went around the entire house. So I climbed over the railing of the larger deck to the smaller deck (kind of more like a rim..) and it was magical. So if you're ever left alone in a Japanese house that you've been living in for a week, explore the level that you've never seen before. I would seriously recommend it.

Hands in! Time for year 12.

Badges, small shiney things that made us feel important.

Late slips, reminding us that we were unimportant.

Woodford, sweet Woodford

Begin

I'm pretty excited about starting my very own blog, and I think the best place to start is the beginning. So, fittingly, this is the first ever 'Film Journal' picture ever taken. It was taken in the backyard of my host family's house in Japan, Jan 1st 2009. They were kind enough to take me in for new years, and have me dressed in one of their own kimono's. Kimono's are quite expensive to purchase or rent, so I was very lucky that they owned three in my size! It took hours of straightening and tying before i was properly dressed, and I imagine it would be rather similar to wearing a corset. So not particularly comfortable, but totally worth it :)
